Jamie is a member of bands Legs on Wheels, Thiara Collective, and regularly plays functions, jazz gigs and jam nights around Manchester. He has performed in venues such as BBC Philharmonic Studios, Aviva Studios, Band on the Wall and Matt n’ Phred’s. He has also recorded with Birmingham-based pop artist Ronzoni Hines, and toured with Apres Ski band Goldstruck! for 3 weeks in the French Alps at ski resorts such as Les Deux Alpes, Meribel, La Plagne, Morzine and Chamonix.
Taking interest from an early age in his dad’s CD collection, Jamie grew up listening to artists such as Charles Mingus, Soweto Kinch, Ornette Coleman, King Crimson, and began drumming at the age of 10. He quickly spent most of his free time practicing and in percussion workshops with carnival arts organisation, Global Grooves. At 17, he won The Robinson Award from the organisation Future Talent, as well as taking part on residential courses Future Leaders and the National Youth Jazz Collective summer short course. After school Jamie studied music at The Manchester College and jazz at The Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.
Throughout his career, Jamie has been fortunate to study with notable musicians such as Steve White, Dave Hassell, Christian Weaver, Dembele Sidiki, Johnny Kalsi, Munch Manship, Andrew Bain, Winston Clifford, Shaney Forbes, Mike Williams and Soweto Kinch. For the past two years Jamie has taught drums at multiple organisations across the West Midlands, Greater Manchester and Merseyside areas.
